Samsung devices are the most popular Android smartphones and they come with quite compelling features. But the major benefit of using samsung android devices is the availability of Stock Samsung ROMs and the Odin tool to flash samsung ROMs. It allows us to root samsung devices as well as also gives us confidence playing with new custom ROMs for Samsung devices or flashing CF-Root kernels or installing custom recovery knowing that anytime we can get back to stock version of Samsung ROM. This is all possible thanks to Odin tool for Samsung Devices.
The Odin tool is responsible for flashing a custom ROM on a Samsung Android device. This can be also used for rooting samsung devices the device as well. It has been used by Samsung Internally to flash the custom ROMs for developing purposes but it is being leaked time to time by unknown sources.

How to install & use Samsung Odin to flash files



Samsung device is little different then other device in look or features. When it come to Rooting , Flashing roms or doing any other this type things to Samsung device you need to use different drivers and different software. To root Samsung or complete any other rooting function we need Odin software. This is only works on Samsung devices. Yet Odin is only available for Windows PC. Now you will use Odin 3.07 (Latest version) for the Samsung Android device root. Please read this tutorial fully and then use your own Samsung devices with Odin.

Cautions
  1. Battery
    Ensure that phone has at least 60% battery remaining, and that your PC is plugged in and wont shut down spontaneously during the process. The procedure doesn’t take very long , but its best to have enough charge in case something goes wrong.
  2. Backup (Optional)
    Flashing firmware will/should completely wipe all data from the device. This includes apps, settings and even the contents of the internal sdcard (pictures, music, etc.). Copy all important files off the phone onto a PC or upload them to a cloud.
  3. USB Debugging 
    On your phone go to Settings > About phone > Tap on Build number 7 times. This will enable Developer options. Now go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable USB debugging.
  4. If want to use Samsung device on PC with Odin then you need to download different drivers than other devices. You can easily download Samsung Usb drivers from HERE (Samsung Official website). Driver are downloaded in Zip format. Extract it and install it on your PC’s system. Now your mobile is ready to perfectly interact with PC.

    How to Install Stock Rom using Odin 3.07

    If your device doesn’t boot up or soft brick you can flash stock rom to get rid of this problem. To flash stock rom on Samsung you can use Odin. Read below step to step guide how to flash stock rom on Samsung device.

    Download Samsung Official Firmware

    First of all we need stock firmware you want to install on your device. You can download any old or latest Samsung stock firmware from Here. You first need to Join this website then you are able to download any firmware. After joining go to given link Just enter model number in search bar and enter. when next window opens select country and enter Baseband version in filter bar. Then click on your desired firmware and on next window click on Regular Download. Now your firmware starts downloading. (How to find model number and baseband version : Go to settings > Open about Phone > Here you can find ‘Model Number’ and ‘Baseband Version’ it help you to download right firmware for device). Firmware file is downloaded in Zip format you need to extract it. You find .md5 file in the folder this is firmware file. Odin uses *.bin,*.tar and *.tar.md5 files.

    Download Odin 3.07 and Install it (Direct Link)

    After downloading Correct firmware now need to download Rom flash software Odin 3.07. It helps to flash stock rom. Download Odin 3.07 from this Link. Odin is also downloaded in .Zip file. Extract it to desired location. After extracting open folder and right click on Odin 3.07.exe file and select ‘Run as administrator’. Then click on Next. Now Odin opens.

    Boot Samsung Device into Download Mode

    To flash .md5 file on any Samsung device using Odin it need to be boot into ‘Download Mode’. To enter download mode press and hold ‘Volume down’ , ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ button at a same time. Now some kind of warning are showing on screen just click ‘volume up’ button. Now you are in download mode.

    Connect Samsung Mobile to PC

    After entering download mode connect phone with PC using USB cable. Now leave the mobile and heading up-to PC. All procedure now done on PC. Your device should be automatically recognized by Odin. At the lower-left of Odin interface, it should show a message that says “Added!” or wait for “ID:COM” field to turns into blue.

    Upload .Md5 file to Odin

    Now everything is ready and its time to upload stock Rom file in Odin. to do this open Odin and click on ‘PDA’. Some times it’s ‘AP’  based on if you are using different version of Odin. After clicking on PDA or AP option file explorer window pop-up. In pop-up window browse extracted MD5 file.
    From here, wait until the Log tab shows a message that says “Leave CS,” then click the “Start” to start flashing process.
    Do not disconnect your device from PC until big green box saying “RESET” or “PASSED”. When it complete the device should be rebooted and it’s safe to remove/unplug your device.

    How to Root Samsung Devices using Odin 3.07

    To root Samsung Device using Odin we need to download Cf Auto Root file for your specific device. This is easiest and safest way to root any Samsung device. Many other options are available to root Samsung devices with one click but that options are still not safe. If want to root any Samsung device read below step to step guide.

    How to Download Right file for Cf Auto Root for your Device

    First of all we need to download right Cf Auto File file of your device. which help you to root your android device. There are up-to 300 devices supported. Every device have different Cf Auto Root File. If you download wrong file it may harm your devices.
    To download proper file firstly you need to check out device model and android version. To do this go to settings and open about phone. Here you can find ‘Model Number’ and ‘Android Version’. Remember all this info it help you to download right file for device.
    Now go to this link to download files you needed. Now find matched Model number , Android version and click on download button. If matched model number or android version not available in list then cf auto root not support your device. Please don’t download wrong file and don’t try to use it. It may hard brick or soft brick your device.
    After you download correct file browse it on computer where you save it. First you need to extract this file. Extract it to desired folder.

    Root Samsung Devices using Odin

    To upload cf-auto-root file to your device using Odin. you need to enter into download mode on Samsung device. To enter download mode press and hold ‘Volume down’ , ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ button at a same time. Now warning are showing on screen just click ‘volume up’ button. Now you are in download mode. After entering download mode connect phone with PC using USB cable. Now leave the mobile and heading upto PC. All procedure now done on PC.
    Now go to folder where you can extract downloaded Cf Auto Root zip. Now find Odin3-v3.X.X.exe file , right click on file and click on “Run as administrator.”
    When Odin is open up, wait for “ID:COM” field to turns into blue. Once that happens, don’t change anything in options leave all of the options selected exactly as they are, then click the “AP” button.
    After clicking on AP option file explorer window pop-up. In pop-up window browse extracted Cf-Auto-Root file, select the CF-Auto-Root-XXX-XXX-XXX.tar.md5 file, then click “Open.”
    From here, wait until the Log tab shows a message that says “Leave CS,” then click the “Start” button to root your device. The entire root process will happen automatically, and when it’s finished, your phone will reboot back into Android.

    Verify Root

    Now your device is rooted using Cf Auto Root. If you want to make sure that your device is rooted or not. Download Root Checker from below given link.
    After installing app > Open  it up > After app open Tap on “Verify App” > Then grant it root permission. Now if everything done right root checker app come up with message “Congratulations! Root access is properly installed on this device!”
    All Done Congrats your device now rooted.
